Surviving A Summer Pregnancy With Sparkling Ice
The Pumpkin Spice latte might be making it’s return- but it is 93 degrees outside today, so summer appears to still be hanging on for us here in Missouri!
Being hugely pregnant through the summer can be a bit(understatement of 2017) uncomfortable. Think about it, us pregnant ladies already have hot flashes, weight gain, and swelling as it is- then add some summer heat to it! It ain’t pretty, sister.
So, being pregnant in the summer can have it’s downs but it can also have it’s ups. There are plenty of ways to try and cool off and actually enjoy a summer pregnancy.
And it is definitely possible to survive a summer pregnancy with these few tips that I’m about to share with you!
Avoid The Heat- Keep Cool Indoors
Some days are made for playing at the park, in the backyard, or riding bikes through the neighborhood.
But 9 months pregnant at the end of summer? There aren’t many days for that.
Sometimes the best thing to do is kick down that A/C, find a great show or two to marathon, and wait for cooler days to come.
Which reminds me-
Keep Your Feet Elevated
While you’re enjoying your A/C and Netflix, make sure you put those feet UP! Sitting for long periods of time can actually contribute to more swelling, so make sure those feet stay elevated.
And if you’re really lucky- maybe you can get your significant other to rub your feet while they’re there!
Enjoy A Pool Day
If you have to get outside, try to find some water to float in! We spent a week at my parents this summer and I was basically submerged the entire time. The pool water feels amazing when you are carrying around all of the weight of an extra person!
One day we went to their nearby resort and I floated in the lazy river for hours. It was basically the best day of my pregnant life.
You can also blow up a kiddie pool in your backyard, play in the water hose or sprinkler, or go to a splash pad.

Lol yes- this has been my first huge in summer pregnancy. I was done with Mabel(May) before it got hot and I was still small when it was hot with Abigail(November). This time around…..woof!
