Stove Top Kettle Corn
Go buy some popcorn kernels and make yourself stove top kettle corn right NOW.
Ingredients you need for stove top kettle corn:
Vegetable Oil
Popcorn Kernels (Note: Don’t go totally cheap. Get the good kind. It makes a difference)
White Sugar
Salt
To get started, add 1/4 Cup of oil and 3 kernels to your pot. Cover and turn your heat on HIGH.
Once they have popped, add the rest of your ingredients.
1/2 Cup of kernels
1/2 Cup of sugar
Cover and shake!
Note: Your heat is still turned up as high as possible, so you need to move quickly! If you let it sit at all it will start to scorch.
My method is this: I leave it and count “1 mississippi, 2, mississippi, 3 mississippi” then shake, repeat counting and shaking until it pops.
Pop, pop, pop!
Once it slows popping(and it happens super fast), take the lid off, give it a good helping of salt, recover, shake some more, and that’s it!
Immediately, pour into another bowl, let it cool, and then break it up a bit with your hands.
Enjoy!
If you don’t devour this whole bowl of stove top kettle corn in one sitting, then you have way more self control than we do, my friend.
I will have to try this!
I’ve made this kettle corn a few times. I because my daughter keeps asking for it. And who am I to deprive her? Haha! It’s SO good! And much more affordable than buying it at the fairs. Thanks for an awesome recipe!
