Destin 2016
So, vacation was a month ago annnnd I’m kind of already ready for it to be Labor Day again so that we can go back. Because like, Destin is a magical fairy land for our family. We love going. It is just always the best time with family and food and the beach and for us, it just doesn’t get any better than that!
We always go with my parents, but the rest of the group has been different every year. This year, we had my brother and his wife, as well as my Mimi & Pa with us. We had a fantastic time visiting and being together!
We flew from Tulsa to Houston to Panama City, where we rent a big van and then drive over to Destin!
We made it!
We had some excitement about Hurricane Hermine while we were there, but luckily it turned and we were completely west of it. We ended up having perfect weather every single day AND the waves were fun for Jim and Abigail to ride thanks to the storm.
We made sure to get in lots of beach time with the girls. Abigail couldn’t get enough playing in the waves and Mabel had herself a grand old time digging in the sand.

Clearly, I currently have a thing for retro swimsuits.
The condo we stayed at also has an amazing pool so we made sure to spend lots and lots of time there as well!
One evening, we all went to a local amusement park and it was fantastic. Everyone did these bumper boats and I still laugh every time I watch the video of it!
Mabel actually got to ride some rides this year! And she was SO excited. Was passionately signing more, please over and over to ride. Annnnd then she would get on them and be a total stone face. Love that girl!
While we’re in Destin, we always make sure to hit up the outlets at least once and some of our very favorite restaurants!

And this was in front of The Crab Trap!On one of our last evenings, we took Abigail to Build A Bear for her souvenir. We talked to her about maybe doing something else this year, but she had her heart set on it! So that’s what we did 🙂
She made a rainbow colored giraffe that she named “Emma”. I always love seeing what she comes up with every year. She has always had a very decisive personality and I love seeing what she chooses.
We introduced Mabesy to Mickey Mouse Clubhouse on vacation and it turns out she LOVES it. We also introduced Abigail to Willy Wonka and Ratatouille. So much fun!
This year we opted to try our hand at taking family pictures ourselves. After attempting it, I can’t say that I recommend it lol. But, we got a few framers 🙂
Grammy let Abigail choose our color theme this year, so naturally, she chose purple. 
Grammy helped get the girlies ready!

Looks (and sounds) like an amazing vacation! I’d love to take the drive up to Destin one year, I’ve heard so many great things about it.
I wish I lived closer to the East Coast because everyone seems to vacation at 30A or Destin and it always looks AH-MAZING. Sounds like you had the very best trip!

Destin (and the 30A) is pretty magical! We love it there. We stayed in Panama, but we did drive over to Destin a couple of times. What an awesome trip filled with so much family time. Adorable pictures! Those ruffle bum swimsuits are the best.
Mabel on the swing ride might just be my favorite picture of summer. So glad you all had such a lovely time with so much family!
What a wonderful trip!! Looks like your weather was perfect and I love the beautiful beaches in Destin. Glad you got to eat so many delicious meals. Your family picture turned out great and I can’t believe how big your girls are getting. What a special time with family.
Your vacation sounds amazing! I have to say though that thinking about vacationing with 2 little kids gives me a bit of anxiety, ha! I’m impressed with your family photos, especially the one with everyone looking and smiling at the camera! The photos of Abigail and Mabel are adorable too. 🙂
