Halfway to Four

I realized that it has been a while since I’ve done a good old fashioned Abigail update.
When she was little, I used to do monthly updates.
As she stopped changing *quite* so rapidly, I stopped doing them. But, since today is her half birthday, I thought it would be a good day to take some time and talk about what this little lady has been up to.
This little girl is so full of life and so full of joy. She is always happy, she is always smiling. She befriends anyone and will talk to everyone.
I recently got an email from a church friend, telling me that when none of the other kids would play with her (younger) little girl during church, Abigail sat beside her and played together. Absolutely warmed my heart.
PS. If someone else’s kid does something really nice, be sure to tell their Mama. There is nothing more encouraging!

She has finally outgrown and graduated from the church nursery. For the last two weeks she has sat the entire service in the pew with us.

This is an especially big deal because Jim and I play music for the first half and she has to sit quietly by herself.

Minus her forgetting herself yesterday morning and trying to dance in the aisles to one of her favorite songs, she has behaved beautifully.

The two things I probably hear most in a day are:
“Mama! Come play with me!”
and
“Would you please lay with me for a couple of minutes?”
This girl loves to spend time with us. She wants to be near you and she is very affectionate. At this point in time, I think her love language is physical touch.
She is so comforted by a hug or a snuggle or lots of extra love.

I always have fresh “flowers” in my special mini vase on the kitchen table thanks to my girl.

I also currently have a tervis tumbler filled with a pipe cleaner bouquet as well.

We have been busy learning some big truths for young hearts lately. Things like, Christ’s death/crucifixion, His resurrection, what is a lie, what is truth, the trinity, and other things like,
babies.

She learns and sings new songs every day. She has such an ear for music. Just this week she has learned, “This is the day that the Lord has made” and “Open the eyes of my heart Lord”.

And maybe some new 90’s songs. I just discovered the “Boy Bands” Pandora station and well, I can’t help myself.

Recently, she sang Hark The Herald Angels Sing before bed. Every other line she sang in her special seahorse voice. It changed an octave, but it stayed in tune the entire time.

It was also hilarious.

Some recent Abigail quotes:

“I love wearing sweaty pants!”  She was talking about sweat pants.

“Now, let’s learn about Cheetos” Cheetahs.

“Cover your mouth when you cough, don’t say gosh, and it’s ah-men NOT amen.” Aye, aye, captain.

“Mama, why are you talking to yourself?” When my bff Lauren was here visiting, I was in the kitchen talking to her while she was nursing Brecken on the couch. Abigail walked in and delivered that line.

Some favorites:

Movies: The Little Mermaid, Frozen, Cinderella

Shows: Curious George, Winnie The Pooh, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse

Food: Peanut Butter ONLY sandwich, berries, buttered toast, bacon, pizza crust, skabetti{spaghetti}, and water that MUST have ice.

Also if she’s really lucky, Schlotzsky’s or Chick Fil A are her favorite places to go eat.

Dear Abigail,

You sweet, sweet girl. Last night as I tucked you into bed you not only told me, “I love you really much” but you also said{as you often do}, “OH, you are SUCH a good mama.” Little love, you make my job easy. Mama & Daddy love you so, so very much. We can’t believe how quickly you are growing! We are so proud of the little girl you are blossoming into. We call you baby, because you are still so small to us, but looking back it is easy to see that you are so grown and well past babyhood, even toddlerhood. We are now entering into a season of life with you, called childhood, and we absolutely love it. We’ve had so much fun watching movies, playing games, and reading books that we did when WE were little. We are thrilled to our toes to watch you learn and discover and ask about life. More than anything, we are so thankful to get to be the ones to help you learn it all. We are so thankful for you and your precious life. We thank God every single day for the gift that you are and we pray that He will continue to guide all of us as we grow up together.
Happy 3.5th Birthday

Love,

Mama {I’ll tack Dad’s name on too}
