Arizona, so far….
So, it has been a minute since I wrote a blog post. A lot has been happening, a lot is going on, and I don’t feel like rehashing it here. BUT, the girls and I are in Phoenix. We’re staying at my parents and will be here for a while longer. So I thought I would put together a post of what things the girls and I have been up to since arriving here almost two weeks ago.
It’s monsoon season, so it’s like a billion degrees outside. It took forever to adjust to the two hour time change. And I’m currently being Mom and Dad.
But my parents are saints, the food is fantastic, and thank goodness for their pool.
We drove up to Kansas City on Monday the 11th and caught an 8:15 flight to Phoenix. I had high hopes that Mabel would for sure fall asleep while we flew and that Abigail would chill as well, but, alas. No such luck. Both were bright eyed and bushy tailed the entire flight. But thankfully it wasn’t a full flight and we got to have the entire row to ourselves. Luxurious!
Both girls were waking up super early. Like, looking at you 5:30 am Miss Mabel(after waking all throughout the night. Oof)
Mabel crawls over to the glass doors and bangs on them and begs to go outside and swim. Our rule is you can’t swim until 10:00 am, and that applies to Miss Mabel too. Much to her chagrin.
One of the first things I always do when I get to my parents is to go to In N Out! So, this trip was no exception. But! One day we visited my Dad at his office in downtown Phoenix and he took us to Shake Shack for lunch. Which was a fabulous experience…let me tell ya. I’m still dreaming about that burger!
Some of my very best blog friends sent the me this giant(hunormous as Abigail says) popsicle float and a 5 lb bag of gummy bears. I tell you what, blog friends really can become some of your very best friends. They know how to make you feel loved.
Because I couldn’t pick just one- nothing beats Miss Mabel snuggles. Nothing. She fills my heart with so much joy.
Abigail and I got to have our very first trip to the movies together. It was so special and so much fun! We saw The Secret Life Of Pets, which Abigail totally loved because hello, animals + potty humor. Right up that girls alley. We put too much butter on our popcorn, drank too much coke, and had the best time.
We got to go to the aquarium for the very first time with my niece and nephew, and absolutely loved it! Mabel was in awe of all of the fishies and Abigail couldn’t stop talking about how much she loved it.
Phoenix is getting a new aquarium later this fall, so that will be REALLY exciting to get to try out next time we come to stay!
I brought Mabel’s favorite books from home and my Mom and Dad have only read them around 100x each, so far.
Mom and I decided to have a girls day this week and it was perfect! We went to Starbucks for treats, next door to the nail salon for manicures and pedicures, and then to the mall for playing and a train ride.
This was Abigail’s very first time getting a manicure and pedicure and she is totally hooked. She kept saying how much she loved it and she acted way WAY too old while we were there! She has the fanciest toes and fingers in all of Arizona now.
I MEAN. She’s in her element. Lol!
The mall closest to Mom and Dad’s has a great little play area and a fun train to ride in that both girls just love. So it was a really fun way to end our afternoon!
The girls and I have been so well cared for by my parents(and so many of you wonderful friends, blog readers!) and I’m so grateful. The girls are doing really well. They are just loving being at Grammy and Pappy’s and I am getting rest, thanks to my amazing parents.
I have a really fun giveaway coming up next week so be on the lookout for that, we have more adventures planned while we’re here so I will have blog posts about that to come, and of course, you can always find me over on Instagram and Facebook!
Thank heavens for mall play places! Yay for the pool. That floatie is the best!
I am sure that time difference really threw you! When we moved, we lost one hour and it was a mess for a few days.
Enjoy your time with your parents 🙂
Time difference sucks!! Especially on top of emotional exhaustion. Glad you & the girls are able to soak up some love during your stay. Big hugs!
Oy. That two hour time difference kills us each and every single time we travel to and from the Midwest!
I mean, a pool float fit for two PLUS gummy bears to last a couple months? Why not.
It’s so good to see you and the ladies with those big smiles.
Continued prayers for you and your family.
xo
All the smiling photos make me so, so happy. <3
I love when R lays on me like that. She doesn’t often, but it’s the best when she does!
Glad you guys are having a great time at your parents! The pool would be a godsend! I wish we had one here most days!! 🙂 XO
So happy that you are being so well taken care of at your Mom and Dad’s house. And the girls look like they’re having a good time too. I love Mabel banging on the window to go out to swim lol. Such a little fishy!
So… I have to ask… of course I love in n out (maybe a little too much) but I have yet to try shake shack. I wonder if there are any around here? Hmm, might have to look into that if you say it’s better than in n out!
Thinking of you! xo
WOW! A lot of firsts! I love it 🙂 I absolutely love those photos of you and Mabel on the couch. You are such a proud, loving mama. I’m so glad that you have your parents to provide for and love you in this time, Courtney. That is such a blessing and I love them for being that for you! I know I said this on Instagram but I love the swimsuit that you found. It’s perfect for you! Hope you get a lot of rest and snuggles! XOXO
That pool looks all sorts of amazing! And Mabel… 5:30am?! Let your mama sleep!
Love those sweet smiles. Stay cool in that crazy heat, good heavens. Youre in my thoughts and prayers, Courtney.
Well the girls seem to be having a blast! That pool looks wonderful and you look great. Thinking of you!
I’m incredibly jealous of that pool, it looks amazing! And I totally wish our mall had a train like that, Jude would die of happiness! Thinking of you and the girls
Thanks for sharing your all so cool vacation, of your beautiful faily with us. I enjoyed!
I saw the photo and said, that doesn’t look like in and out, that looks like shake shack! And now I’m embarrassed to admit I know that!
It looks like you’ve been having a great time at your parent’s! You are a rockstar for flying alone with 2 kids. Swimsuit shopping is never fun, but I love the one you got! Your parent’s pool looks so awesome; I love that you and the girls can swim everyday. Also, definitely jealous that you’re able to take advantage of In N Out! Love that place.
So nice to have a place to escape to that you can feel right at home at. So amazing of your parents to do that for you and your family right now. And blogging friends are the best.
oh, abigail getting a mani and pedi is the cutest thing ever. almost as cute as mabel snuggles.
ugh swimsuit shopping is always the worst. but it would be worse to have a pool staring at you with no swimsuit so… necessary evil 😉
hope all is well.. as well can be girl. thinking of you and the girls!
