Big Sister Training 101: Playtime With Lamaze Toys
One of the lesser thought of baby registry items that I always try to recommend to my new mom friends when they are starting up their baby registries, is to add some toys! I learned this lesson the hard way when Abigail was about 6 or 7 months old and it dawned on me that she didn’t have a single toy to play with(oops).
So off I went, out to Amazon, and the very first toys I ever bought her to play with were Lamaze!
I ordered her very own Freddie the Firefly and it got so much use! I remember taking it on her very first little road trip to Tennessee and she played with it in the back seat for such a long time.
Right then and there I was completely sold on Lamaze toys and how wonderful they are for stimulating babies minds and promoting healthy development.
We’ve since added even more Lamaze toys to our collection and I was absolutely thrilled when we received a few more in the mail recently for our newest little love.
We were sent the Octotunes Octopus and the Stacking Rings.
Naturally, Mabel had to test them out to make sure they will be suitable for the new baby. Since she sat and played with the stacking rings for well over 30 minutes straight, I’d say they passed the test!
As she played with them she would say, “baby!” “baby!” because I had told her these were for the new baby. But we shall see if she’s quite so excited to share them in a few more months :p
Anyway, these toys are fantastic. The Lamaze Octotunes features a full octave of notes that allow baby to make merry music! The colorful tentacles are composed of different textures and patterns and when they’re squeezed they make a different musical note!
Some of the benefits for baby are:
• Large, friendly eyes invite baby to focus on a single object, supporting healthy eye development
• Eight floppy legs encourage pulling, squeezing, and hugging–strengthening muscles
• Each of the eight tentacles plays a different note when squeezed
And then we have Mabel’s personal favorite, the stacking rings!
The stacking rings are made with interesting textures, patterns, and sounds. They’re perfect for helping baby develop dexterity and hand-eye coordination. The rings are easy to grasp and make stacking easy and so fun!
• Problem solving skills are fostered as baby figures out how to stack rings on the post
• Gripping and stacking the soft rings strengthens hand-eye coordination
• Crinkly rings awaken baby’s auditory awareness

Do you have any Lamaze Toys in your house? If so, which are your favorites?
I have always loved the Lamaze toys! We have a moose (our first baby purchase when we were about 16 minutes pregnant), and it is well loved.
Your little one seems to be having fun with her toys. Smart and beautiful little girl.
