The First Two Weeks

It has been two weeks since little Finn has joined our family! I thought it would be fun to share a bunch of pictures to give a glimpse into first few days home as a family of five!

But first, the day before he was born 🙂

My parents arrived the day before Finn was born. Talk about perfect timing!

First we went to the library for play and story time, had lunch at Five Guys, went back home for naps, and then headed back out for dance class(both girls!) and then Abigail’s soccer game and playing at the park afterwards!

They won! But in true Abigail fashion, I think her favorite part was the snack afterwards 😉 At least she was nice enough to share with her sister!

I went into labor the next morning and Finn was born Friday afternoon! We were back home by Saturday evening and have been adjusting and getting to know our new little guy ever since.

And now I will proceed to share the biggest photo dump ever ever ever

(but can you have too many baby photos? Answer: no. no you can not!)

The day after we got home from the hospital, my BFF Lauren and her oldest daughter came down for a visit(and bought us Del Rio carry out for dinner- talk about true BFF love right there) and it was so good to catch up and share new baby snuggles with them!

Lots of people have been asking me how Mabel is adjusting and honestly she is doing amazing! The adjustment has been going much better than Abigail’s transition away from being an only child 😉

True, my Mom is still here, so we’re all in a bit of “fairy land” still. But Jim is back to work and we’ve gone back to church, are still doing school, and keeping up with our regular activities, so life has still been relatively normal for them. So hopefully that will continue to help with the transition for both of them.

The little guy had his first pediatrician appointment the Wednesday after he was born. He weighed 7 13 when he was born on Friday and weighed 7 11.2 on Wednesday afterwards, so he was doing really well! He had almost cleared off all of his jaundice, showed off how yellow his poop is, and checked out just perfectly. Way to go, Finn!

Then later that night he had his very first outing to Panera for a Forum/Discussion with the ladies from church. It was amazing to get to use my brain for some deep thinking for a few hours!

Our morning scene. Three kids??! How did that happen!?

One of the biggest ways Mabel stays occupied during Abigail’s school? She makes a “bow bow” (a rainbow!) out of literally every single crayon and marker that we have. It’s amazing.

And this little girl has been an absolute champ! Learning and growing so much. 2nd grade is treating her well!

A week after Finn was born we got another special set of visitors! My brother and his wife and my grandparents- all the way from Florida!

They stayed for a few days and it was really, really special to get so much time with both of them!

The Finn fan club!

Our first Sunday to church was a success! The girls went with Jim the week before while Finn and I stayed home(I was not ready for pew life just yet) but a week later I managed to make it happen! Jim delivered me some coffee before he went early for music practice, Mom helped me get the girls ready, and we made it to the church on time!

I know not every week will run so smoothly, but it felt good to get the first one out of the way successfully!

I took this picture on Finn’s due date! He was born ten days early- very much appreciated by this Mama! I’ve loved having ten extra days with him on the outside instead of the inside!

The next day was my birthday! I had hoped ever since I found out that my due date was on the 25th that Finn would come at least a few days early so I wouldn’t be in the hospital on my birthday. I so appreciated him cooperating for that!

My big birthday wish was for a family picture of the five of us(nailed it), a glass of red wine, some sushi, and the This Is Us premiere. And I’m happy to report that my birthday wishes all came true!

It was a great 29th birthday 🙂

Two weeks after my last night of pregnancy, Finn and I were back at the soccer fields to cheer sissy on again!

Then today we ventured out to the mall for the first time with all three kiddos. It was totally exhausting but we did it! The girls played at the playground, I shopped at Old Navy for some items to wear for our newborn photos tomorrow, we had lunch at Chick Fil A, and that was that!

Needless to say, it has been an incredibly busy and full two weeks, but we are so happy and so thankful for our first days as a family of FIVE!
